Where did all your 3D models go?

StemPie is a storage visualizer for 3D models. It scans your drives and draws every model you own as one big treemap. Bigger files get bigger tiles. Click any tile to see the model in 3D instantly.

What it does

• Finds every model on your PC — STL, OBJ, FBX, glTF/GLB, PLY, DAE, 3MF, 3DS, Blender, Maya, 3ds Max, USD, Alembic, SketchUp, STEP, IGES and more.
• Groups them into projects automatically, or by folder or by file type.
• Live 3D preview of STL, OBJ, FBX, glTF/GLB, PLY, DAE, 3MF, 3DS and VRML — rotate it, flip on wireframe. Big meshes are simplified so even million-triangle scans open fast.
• Game-ready budget — set a triangle or quad limit and every model over it gets a red outline.
• Right-click a file type to show only that type. Right-click again to bring them all back.
• Never touches your files. StemPie only reads them. It never moves, renames, deletes or saves anything.

Beta

StemPie is in beta (version 0.9.0). Everything above works, but you may hit rough edges. If something breaks or a file type won't preview, leave a comment below and I'll fix it. New versions are posted on this page.

Current plans for the future

• Linux support
• 3D previews of scene files — .blend, .max, .ma/.mb, .usd and .abc. For now they show up in the map with their size and details.

Requirements

• Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. Nothing else to install.

Install

Unzip anywhere and run StemPie.exe. No installer, no admin rights. Windows may show "Windows protected your PC" because StemPie is new — click More info → Run anyway.
